HOME SWEET HOME
Emporia State begins a scheduled nine game home stand on Thursday with the first of three games against Central Oklahoma.
LAST AT BAT
After winning the first game of the series 10-0 in seven innings and falling 2-1 in the bottom of the ninth in game two, Emporia State had 16 hits on the way to an 11-3 series clinching win over Northwest Missouri on Sunday afternoon in Maryville, Mo.
Cooper Minnick was four for five with four runs scored and an RBI while Bloomer, Chaput and Cherry all had two RBI in Sunday's win.Â
Drew Repp went 6.0 innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits with five strikeouts and three walks.Â
Jarrett Seaton worked the final 3.0 innings to pick up the save.
THE COACHES
Seth Wheeler is 45-35 in his third season as the Hornets head coach. He is 2-1 against Central Oklahoma.
John Martin is 163-90-1 in his sixth year at Central Okla. He is 5-10 against his alma mater.

Emporia State is 5-6, 2-3 in the MIAA.
Brady Michel is batting .462 with a 1.178 OPS and nine RBI. Chandler Bloomer is hitting .366 with two homers, ten runs and ten RBI while
Cooper Minnick is batting .359 with eight RBI and 11 runs scored.
Blake Carroll has a team high five triples and 13 runs scored. His next triple will move him into a tie for tenth on the Hornets single season list.
Jake Barton is 1-2 with a 2.12 ERA and 25 strikeouts while Jarred Kengott is 1-2 with a 2.29 ERA and 24 strikeouts.

SCOUTING THE BRONCHOS
Central Oklahoma is 4-3, 2-1 in the MIAA and have won three of their last four games.
They have four starters batting over .400. led by Ryan Harrel with a .458 average. Garrett Takamatsu is hitting .435, Joe Mondragon is at .429, and Brett Hopkins is batting .407 all through seven games. Six players have each hit one home run.
Luke Anderson is 1-0 with a 1.74 ERA and 16 strikeouts in two starts. Kyler Patterson is 1-1 with a 5.06 ERA and 18 strikeouts in four games with two starts. Beaux Bonvillain has their lone save in three appearances with seven strikeouts in 3.0 innings and a 6.00 ERA.

The Hornets lead the all-time series 146-66 and have won 14 of the last 19 meetings. Due to the COVID pandemic the last meeting between the two was in 2019.

A Lou Penner homer gave the Hornets a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning and
Cooper Minnick made it 3-0 with a two run double in the seventh before UCO scored one in the bottom of the inning. A
Tanner Arst RBI single gave ESU an insurance run in the eighth before UCO scored two in the ninth.
Minnick led the Hornets two hits including a double and two RBI while
Ryan Lee got the win.
