Abigael Reid made her collegiate debut a memorable one as she hit a provisional qualifiying mark in the women's pentathlon at the Carol Robinson Winter Pentathlon at Kansas State. Her total of 3,305 points ranks sixth all-time at Emporia State.

She opened the competition with a 9.33 in the 60m hurdles to finish fifth. She was seventh in the high jump, clearing 4-11.5 (1.51m) on her third attempt. She went 33-1 (10.08m) on her first attempt in the shot put and then jumped 16-4.50 (4.99m) on her final attempt in the long jump. Her best finish of the five was in the final event as she ran 2:26.35 in the 800m to place fourth. Overall her 3,305 placed her fifth in the pentathlon behind Division I competitors from UCLA, Houston Baptist and Kansas State.

The freshman from Garnett, Kan. is currently ranked eighth in the nation and fourth in the MIAA in the pentathlon.

She was the only competitor for Emporia State this weekend. The next action for the Hornets is scheduled for January 21 at the UCM Invitational in Warrensburg, Mo.

Reid is the third Emporia State female to hit a provisional qualifying mark so far this winter.Â
Jenna Ramsey has a provisional mark of 17:13.47 in the 5000m that ranks 13th in the nation while
Allie Barrett is ranked 14th in the nation with a school record mark of 12-2 (3.71m) in the pole vault, both of which were set at the Crimson & Gold Invitational.
