MIDWEEK HOMESTAND
Emporia State will play the next three matches in the friendly confines of White Auditorium beginning with a Tuesday Turnpike Tussle against Washburn.
THE COACHES
Bing Xu is in his 15th year as head coach for Emporia State. He holds a record of 285-175 and has led the Hornets to five NCAA Tournament appearances. He is 8-22 against Washburn and 17-7 against Missouri Western.
Chris Herron is 513-104 in his 18th season as head coach at Washburn and has a career record of 588-133 in his 21st year as a four year collegiate coach. He is 27-10 against Emporia State.
Marian Carbin is 122-80 in her seventh season as head coach at Missouri Western. She is 6-4 against Emporia State
SCOUTING THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 4-6, 0-2 in the MIAA and have played nine of their first ten matches away from White Auditorium. They are ranked fifth in the MIAA in team blocks.
Aliyah Bernard is fourth in the league in hitting percentage and is 11th in blocks per set.
Emma Dixon is sixth in the MIAA in assists and
Shelby Innes is ranked seventh in the conference in digs per set.
MIAA OVERALL
The MIAA has gone 60-32 in non-conference play so far this season. Four teams are nationally ranked in this week's AVCA National Poll with all of them in the top 15, while another team is receiving votes.
SCOUTING WASHBURN
The third ranked Ichabods are 9-1, 1-1 in the MIAA after falling to #6 Neb.-Kearney on Saturday. They lead the MIAA in kills per set, blocks per set and service aces. Kelsey Gordon leads the league in hitting percentage and is 11th in kills per set.
SERIES HISTORY
The Hornets lead the all-time series 64-40 however Washburn has won 18 of the last 19 meetings.
LAST TIME VS. THE ICHABODS
Emporia State was held to just .088 hitting in a 3-0 loss to #10 Washburn in the first round of the MIAA Volleyball Tournament.
Jamie Hauptman had a team high nine kills on .286 hitting but no other Hornet hit above .150 in the match.

Yuchen Du combined for 27 assists.
SCOUTING MISSOURI WESTERN
The Griffons are 6-4 on the season and 0-2 in the MIAA. They are fourth in the league in hitting percentage as a team. Ali Tauchen is second in the MIAA in kills per set and third in hitting percentage. Tianna Butler is second in the association in digs per set.
SERIES HISTORY
The Hornets lead the all-time series 44-43 and have won three of the last four meetings.
LAST TIME VS. THE GRIFFONS
Emporia State defeated Missouri Western 3-1 in White Auditorium. The Hornets scored the final five points to take the 26-24 set one win. The Griffons bounced back with a 25-22 win to tie the match at 1-1. The Hornets used a 6-0 run to take the lead midway through the set en route to a 25-23 win to regain the match lead 2-1. The Hornets held their momentum through the final set to take the 25-22 set four win.
Taylor Otting led the Hornets with a double-double of 19 kills and 14 digs.
Emma Dixon joined her with 50 assists and 15 digs.

The Hornets will play host to Fort Hays State on Tuesday, October 1 in their first rematch of the season. First serve in White Auditorium is set for 6:00 p.m.
