September 14, 2019-In their final match at the Mountain Lion Invitational Emporia State fell 3-1 to Colorado School of Mines on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Orediggers jumped out to a 5-1 lead and led 12-5 early.  They would take a 21-12 lead before coasting to a 25-16 win in the first set.
 
In the second set Emporia State was within 17-15 before Colorado Mines closed the set on an 8-1 run to take another 25-16 win.
 
The Hornets trailed 17-12 in the third set before they went on a 10-2 run to take a 22-20 lead. A kill by 
Yuchen Du followed by an 
Allie Christensen solo block gave Emporia State a 25-21 win and forced a fourth set.
 
The Orediggers used a 6-0 run to turn a two point lead into a seven point lead at 18-11 in the final set. CSM then ended the set and the match with a 7-1 run for a 25-14 victory.
 
Yuchen Du led Emporia State with 11 kills and 13 digs and was the only Hornet in double figures in points.
 
Emporia State will open MIAA play on Friday, September 20 at home against #8 Neb.-Kearney. First serve for the home opener in White Auditorium is set for 7:00 p.m.
