September 20, 2019-Emporia State came out strong to begin the match before falling in three sets to #6 Neb.-Kearney on Friday night at White Auditorium.

In the opening set Emporia State used a 5-0 run on
Rylie Fornelli's service to take a 10-7 lead. The Hornets would go up 15-11 on a kill by
Allie Christensen before the Lopers went on a 10-2 run to take control.  Emporia State would close to 21-19 before Neb.-Kearney scored the final three points for a 25-19 win.

The Lopers scored the first four points and never looked back in a 25-10 second set victory.

The third set was tight through the first 30 points with neither team taking more than a two point lead. Neb.-Kearney used a 5-0 run to take a 20-14 lead. They would extend the run to 9-1 to get to set point at 24-15, but the Hornets were able to fight off four match points before falling 25-19.

Yuchen Du led Emporia State with six kills Neb.-Kearney out dug the Hornets 52-35 on the night.Â
Shelby Innes had 17 digs for Emporia State while
Emma Dixon dished 17 assists.

The Hornets will now travel to Hays, Kan.on Saturday to take on Fort Hays State. First serve is set for 5:00 p.m. in Gross Memorial Coliseum.
