October 19, 2019-Playing their second straight top 15 team Emporia State was swept by #9 Central Missouri 25-19, 25-11, 25-15 on Saturday night at White Auditorium.

The Jennies rolled to an 8-0 lead to start the match and would lead 15-5. Down 18-8 the Hornets went on a 10-2 run to pull within 20-18. UCM would then finish the set with a 5-1 run to take a 1-0 lead.

Emporia State trailed 14-9 in the second set before Central Missouri closed the set on an 11-2 run to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

There were four ties and three lead changes in the first 19 points of the third set. The Hornets led 9-7 before the Jennies went on a 10-1 run to take a 17-10 lead. Emporia State was within five when Central Missouri scored the final five points of the match to finish off the sweep.

Yuchen Du had a team high 15 kills with three digs and two block assists but was the only Hornet with more than five kills.Â
Rylie Fornelli had 14 digs while
Emma Dixon had 21 assists.

The Hornets will play their third straight top 15 team on Tuesday when they travel to #3 Neb.-Kearney. First serve from the Health & Sports Center in Kearney, Neb. is set for 6:00 p.m.
