SEVEN HORNETS EARN ALL-MIAA HONORS ON TENNIS

Griffey named Sportsmanship Award Winner for second straight year

May 4, 2016-The Emporia State men's and women's tennis teams combined to have seven players earn some type of All-MIAA recognition for the league coaches.

Tawni Griffey was named the Sportsmanship Award Winner for the second straight year and earned honorable mention All-MIAA honors at #1 singles. She went 15-8 in singles on the season and 7-3 in the MIAA, all at the #1 position.  She was joined on the honorable mention team by Lori Ahuja and Sarah Durham at #6 singles. Ahuja was undefeated in four matches at #6 singles and 10-13 on the season.  Durham went 12-2 in an injury plagued season, with a 5-1 record at #6 singles.

Farhan Sadique was a second-team All-MIAA pick at #6 singles and teamed with Collin Conner to be named honorable mention at #3 doubles.  Sadique was 12-3 on the season with a 6-0 record at #6 singles while going 3-1 in MIAA singles action.  Sadique and Connor were 9-6 as a doubles team with a 2-3 record in MIAA play.  They were joined on the honorable mention All-MIAA team by Patrick Cameron and Matheus Mota at #2 doubles. They only played four matches together on the season, going 4-0 at the #2 slot.
