April 24, 2015- Emporia State mens's tennis team saw their season come to an end with a heartbreaking 5-4 loss to Lindenwood in the MIAA Tournament.
Andrew Davids and Gerard Pont defeated Yoshikazu Ysa and Johannes Rabenhorst 8-1 to start things off for the Hornets. That victory was followed by another, Patrick Cameron and Keenan Smith defeated Filip Bogic and Naoufal El Idrissi 8-6 in the closest doubles match of the day. The final doubles victory for Emporia State was Connor Collin and Payton Hays defeating Slobodan Bavrlic and Nicholas Bruenger 8-3.
Lindenwood came back strong, winning five of the six singles matches. Hays defeated Bavrlic 6-3, 6-4 to earn the only singles victory for the Hornet. Davids and Patrick both battled to a third set before falling.
Emporia State will finish the season with an 11-10 record overall including a 2-3 mark in MIAA play. It is the most wins for the Hornet men in MIAA action since the league went to dual meet standings in 2003.
