EMPORIA STATE TENNIS SWEPT BY NORTHWEST MISSOURI IN MAKE UP DUALS

Hornet women fall 7-2, men 8-1

April 21, 2015-Both the Emporia State men's and women's teams saw winning streaks snapped in a dual sweep by Northwest Missouri on Tuesday night at the EHS Courts.  The women fell 7-2 and the men dropped an 8-1 decision.

The women lost at both #1 and #2 doubles 8-6 and fell 8-4 at #3 to trail 3-0 after doubles.  Camila Ramos won at #2 singles 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8) and Kaley Clark picked up a win at #4 in straight sets 6-0, 6-3 for the Hornets two wins.

The men battled in doubles with Andrew Davids and Gerard Pont falling 8-5 at #1 while Payton Hays and Collin Connor won 9-7 at #3 before Keenan Smith and Patrick Cameron pulled out a 9-8 win at #2 doubles.  That would be the only win of the night as the Bearcats won all six singles matches.

The Hornet men finished the regular season in fourth place in the MIAA and will take on fifth seeded Lindenwood at 3:00 p.m. on Friday in the first round of the MIAA Tournament at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Mo.  The Emporia State women will play Central Oklahoma on Thursday in the final regular season dual in Springfield. The winner will get the fifth seed and will play fourth seeded Neb.-Kearney in the first round of the MIAA Tournament while the loser will take on third seeded Northwest Missouri in the first round on Friday.
