July 16, 2026-Emporia State women's tennis coach Cyrielle Peyroche has announced that she is stepping down as the head women's coach for the Hornets.
 
"I am grateful for the opportunities, support, and experiences I have gained during my time as a coach over the past five years and three years before that as a player," said Peyroche. "I have truly enjoyed working with the administration, our student-athletes, and the university community, and I am grateful for the relationships and experiences I will take with me."
 
Peyroche was the first female named head coach of the Emporia State tennis program when she served as the interim coach of both the men's and women's programs in the spring of 2023.  Off the courts the Emporia State women placed eighth in the nation in community service in 2025-26, the third straight year the Hornets have been in the top ten. This past season the Hornets earned ITA All-Academic Team honors in the classroom. The Lyon, France native was 23-15 in singles play during her three years as a player for Emporia State from 2019-21.
 
"CyCy has been a tremendous mentor, leader, and ambassador for our program, helping shape student-athletes while representing our values with class and integrity," said Emporia State Director of Athletics Steve Rodecap. "We are deeply grateful for her years of service, and we wish her the very best in the next chapter of her journey."
 
Emporia State Director of Tennis and men's head coach John Blackburn will oversee the women's program until a replacement is named.
