Emporia State will play host to the 2012 MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships this weekend at Witten Track/Welch Stadium.
The top mark in the nation is held by MIAA athletes in ten different events - the men's 100m, 400m relay, long jump, triple jump, javelin and decathlon and the women's 100m, 400m relay, shot put and heptathlon. The MIAA won nine national championships at last year's outdoor championships and three of the defending champions, Emporia State's Andrew Etheridge in the men's 110m hurdles, Lincoln's Yanique Haye in the women's 400m hurdles, and Central Missouri's Lindsay Lettow in the women's heptathlon are back this year.
Events start on Friday at 2 p.m. with the multi-events. Saturday will being with the finals of the multi-events starting at 10 a.m., field events will begin at 1 p.m. and action on the track will start at 3:30 p.m. Sunday's action will begin at 12 noon. Daily admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students.
