May 18, 2012-Emporia State senior tennis player Ethan Deckert has been named first-team Capital One Academic All-District At Large Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The men’s At Large team consists of student-athletes in the sports of tennis, wrestling, golf, swimming, hockey, skiing, lacrosse, water polo, fencing, and volleyball.
Deckert was an honorable mention All-MIAA performer at #4 singles after going 6-3 on the year. The Larned, Kan. native had a 3.89 GPA in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
As a first-team All-District selection he will advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
