September 14, 2026 - Lavra Krizanic was named the MIAA Offensive Athlete of the Week after helping Hornet Volleyball to a 5-0 run last week.
Krizanic stood out in Emporia State's trip to the MIAA-GAC Crossover last week, totaling 69 kills on .358 hitting while averaging 4.31 kills per set on the week. She opened the tournament with 10 kills on .364 hitting against Ouachita Baptist, before adding 13 kills with just one error in Emporia State's sweep over #24 Oklahoma Baptist. Krizanic continued the run into day two of the tournament, tallying 19 kills against Southern Nazarene and then 21 kills in a sweep over East Central while hitting .415 in both matches.
Krizanic's 21 kills against East Central are tied for fifth-most in a three-set match in Division II this season, and also marked a new three-set career-high for Krizanic. Along with her performance in attack, she also added 65 digs and 11 total blocks.
Emporia State extended their winning streak to ten matches after their 5-0 run last week, moving to 12-1 on the season. The Hornets will be back in action on Friday, September 18 as they travel to Pittsburg State to take on the Gorillas. First serve between the Hornets and Gorillas is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
