April 24, 2026-The Emporia State football team wrapped up their formal off season practices with the Spring Showcase in front of nearly 500 fans on Friday night at Welch Stadium.
The roughly 90 minute practice included several individual and group sessions in the first 40 minutes. At halftime senior members of the 2025 Hornets were recognized before the scoring competition took place. Â
In a series of one on one drills consisting of five sets of offensive linemen vs defensive linemen, running backs vs linebackers, and receivers vs defensive backs, Team Corky won nine of the 15 competitions to lead 18-12 headed into the final quarter of football action.
Team Stingers scored on their second drive on a two yard run by transfer running back
Terrel Graves.
Brandon McCary converted the PAT to give the Stingers a 19-18 lead. That would be the only score of the scrimmage.Â
Freshman
Dominic Leesman led the Corkys into field goal range with less than a minute remaining but the 37 yard attempt was wide right as the Stingers prevailed 19-18.
