January 6, 2026-The Emporia State football team had five Hornets named Academic All-District as selected by College Sports Communicators.
Landon Boss,
Caden Dodson,
Dalton Owen,
Ethan Schultze, and
Tyler Schultze were all named CSC Academic All-District for their work in the classroom.

Landon Boss has a 3.72 GPA in business and was a consensus All-American at linebacker as a junior for the Hornets. He earned First-Team All-American honors from the AFCA, D2CCA, AP, Don Hansen Football Committee, and Walter Camp Football Foundation while being named Second-Team All-American by D2Football.com. He was a unanimous selection as a First-Team All-MIAA linebacker, while also winning the Defensive Player of the Year award in the Association. The Osage City, Kan. native tallied 101 tackles on the season, which included ten sacks, 11 quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles, two interceptions and a defensive touchdown.  He led the MIAA in sacks and tackles for loss while ranking second in the league in solo tackles and fourth in total tackles. His 69 solo tackles are the fifth most in the nation, his 17.5 tackles for loss rank sixth in the nation while his ten sacks are 12th in the nation.

Caden Dodson has a 3.74 GPA in Sports Leadership and is a two time All-MIAA selection as a kicker. The senior from Argyle, Texas earned Third Team recognition after making the fourth-most field goals in the MIAA this past season with nine and had the third best field goal percentage. He holds the ESU record for consecutive made PATs at 53 from Oct. 21, 2023-October 26, 2024 and is ranked second in career PAT for the Hornets with 161 and fourth in career field goals made with 37.

Dalton Owen has a 3.77 GPA in business. The Concordia, Kan. native started all 11 games on the offensive line for Emporia State last season. The junior had 61.5 knockdowns on the season with ten at Washburn and a career high 12.5 at Central Missouri.
Ethan Schultze has a 3.98 GPA in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The junior from DeSoto, Kan. was ninth in the MIAA with 36 receptions in ten games for a total of 419 yards. He has 949 career receiving yards in his first three seasons.

Tyler Schultze has a 3.99 GPA in Physics and was a Second-Team All-MIAA selection at defensive back. The junior from DeSoto, Kan. led the MIAA and was second in the nation in passes defended. He had 65 total tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss. He was a First-Team Academic All-American in 2024.  As a sophomore he led the MIAA and ranked 11th in the nation with five interceptions
and was sixth in the nation in passes defended on his way to Third-Team All-MIAA honors. He ranks seventh in career pass break ups at Emporia State headed into his senior season.
To be nominated, student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games/contests/sets played OR must start in at least 66 percent of the games with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced January 27.
The Division II CSC Academic All-America® program is partially supported financially by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the program.
