Emporia State is 8-15, 4-10 in the MIAA and have played the third toughest schedule in the country. They are fourth in the MIAA in made three-pointers per game.

Jack Weigus put the Hornets up 32-31 entering halftime. The Tigers opened the second half on an 8-1 run and took their biggest lead at 57-46 with 8:17 left. The Hornets chipped away and cut the deficit to 72-70 with five seconds left on a
Justin Mack putback. Kyle Grill hit one of two free throws with 2.5 seconds left to leave the door open but ESU was unable to convert on full court pass play.

Missouri Southern shot a blistering 62.1% from the field on the way to a 93-73 win over Emporia State on Saturday in White Auditorium.
After missing their first shot of the game the Lions would hit seven straight to go up 15-4 with 16:30 left in the half. A
Chris Harris put back had the Hornets withing eight at 24-16 with 9:02 remaining. Southern hit four of five shots in a 12-4 run to take their biggest lead of the half at 50-31 with 1:21 left. MSSU had their biggest lead at 65-40 with 12:43 left in the game when
Jack Weigus sparked a 20-9 run. He scored 18 of the Hornets 20 points in under five minutes of action to get the Hornets within 72-60 with 7:15 left. The Lions broke the run with five straight points to go back up 77-60 with 6:13 left and ESU would not get closer than 14 the rest of the game.
