Gracie Gilpin was named an MIAA Scholar-Athletes while
Addie Kirmer and
Kaylin Noonan earned the MIAA Academic Excellence Award to highlight 13 Emporia State basketball players, eight Lady Hornets and five Hornet men, that were recognized by the conference for the academic accomplishments.
Gilpin has a 3.74 GPA as a senior in computer science and was named Third-Team All-MIAA. She started 29 of 30 games and was named Third-Team All-MIAA. She averaged 13.1 points per game and was second in the MIAA with 69 made three pointers. She is ranked 28
th on the Lady Hornets career scoring list with 1,053 points. Her 226 career made three-pointers rank third all-time and are the most by a Lady Hornet that only played three seasons.
To qualify as a Scholar-Athlete an individual must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 at the certifying member institution. The student-athlete must have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. If competing in a championship sport of the MIAA, the student-athlete must also earn All-MIAA honors from the 2024-25 season.
Kirmer and Noonan are both sophomores with a 4.00 GPA in Nursing. Noonan started 17 of 30 games on the season and averaged 5.1 rebounds per game. She had four double figure rebound games with a career high 13 boards against Lincoln. Kirmer played in 22 games with one start. She had a career high six points against Missouri Western.
An Academic Excellence Award recipient must have a grade point average used by the institution for NCAA academic certification of at least 4.00 at the certifying member institution. The honoree also must have at least two terms of grades reported at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
Makenna Clark has a 3.38 GPA as a junior Business major. She has played in 21 games for the Lady Hornets with a career high of 11 against Fort Hays State in the 2024-25 season.
Lexsey DeWitt is a sophomore with a 3.84 in biology. She started seven of 27 games played and shot .344 from the three-point line. She scored a career high 11 points against Northwest Missouri.
Macey Gandee has a 3.61 GPA in biology as a senior. She started 29 of 30 games and averaged 8.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. She had a career high 20 points against Missouri Western and grabbed 11 rebounds against both Southwest Baptist and Lincoln.
Makenzie McDaniel is a sophomore nursing major with a 3.61 GPA. She saw action in 30 games and averaged 4.5 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. She had a season high 15 points at Neb.-Kearney and a season high eight rebounds at Southwest Baptist.
Elizabeth Tjaden has a 3.05 GPA in nursing as a sophomore. She played in 28 games with four starts. She had a season-high ten points with six rebounds at Central Missouri.
Dallas Bear is a junior with a 3.23 GPA in Business. He played in all 28 games with seven starts and shot .397 from the three-point line. He had a career high 24 points with six three-pointers against Neb.-Kearney.
Devin Conley has a 3.47 GPA in Business as a sophomore for the Hornets. He played in 28 games with one start. He scored in double figures three time with a season high 13 points against William Jewell and Sterling.
Will Cravens is a red-shirt freshman with a 3.11 GPA in Information Systems. He played in 14 games and was fifth on the team with five blocked shots.
Chris Harris has a 3.77 GPA in Business as a sophomore. He started 26 of 27 games played and averaged 12.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. He had a career high 24 points against Fort Hays State and grabbed ten rebounds against St. Cloud State, Central Oklahoma, and Fort Hays State.
Sheldon Stewart has a 3.19 GPA as a red-shirt freshman business major. He played in 12 games on the year and had a 2.5-1 assist to turnover ratio.
To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
These academic awards do not include first-year freshmen or first-year transfers. The MIAA will release its Newcomer Academic Awards from the 2025-26 academic year in late June.
