August 22, 2025-Emporia State has two returners with experience to lead the defensive specialists and liberos this year.
Â
Sydney Fiatte is in her second season with Hornets after transferring from Johnson County CC. She is an experienced libero who has a wide skill set. She was fourth on the team in digs and second in assists last year for Emporia State. She has grown into the libero role after splitting time last year between libero and setter.
Â
Willow Deckinger is a sophomore at Emporia State who ranked fourth on the Hornets in digs despite missing four matches. She is quick and explosive athlete who can make dynamic plays look easy. She had a strong spring season developing her passing and overall consistency on the court.
Â
Boglarka Rady is an experienced libero out of Hungary who has played in the Hungarian first division and as an older player will bring some consistency to the libero position. She represented Hungary in the U18 European Championships.
Â
Brenna Smith played in four matches as a freshman last season at Emporia State. She is a versatile player who is continuing to develop her skills in the back row. She played outside hitter for ESU in the spring to develop more of her all-around game but will just focus on playing in the back row this season.
Â
The Hornets will open the regular season in San Diego, Calif. on Thursday, September 4 against Point Loma. The first home match is scheduled for Friday, September 26 against Missouri Western and will be the MIAA opener.
