July 24, 2025-Have you ever wondered what it is like to travel with the Hornet football team to a road game?  For the first time since the 2004 season, the Hornets will be flying to a regular season game and there are a limited number of seats available to the public on the team's charter flight to Texas.
 
"We have a great crowd that follows us on the road and this is a chance for some of them to get an inside look at what goes into a Hornet Football road trip," said Emporia State head football coach Garin Higgins. "It will be a unique experience that not a lot of MIAA schools have the opportunity to be a part of."
 
The Hornets will take on Angelo State on Saturday, September 6 at LeGrand Stadium in San Angelo, Texas. Fans will have an opportunity to fly on the team charter from Kansas City to San Angelo, Texas on September 5, stay in the team hotel, and eat dinner with the team.  Also included in the package is transportation from San Angelo Regional Airport to the hotel and game along with a game ticket and special commemorative piece of Adidas apparel.
 
The price for this rare experience is $1000 per person to reserve your travel accommodations from Kansas City to San Angelo, hotel room, selected meals and a ticket to an early season game with potentially huge post season implications. Emporia State defeated Angelo State 17-12 last season in Welch Stadium. The Hornets would reach #11 in the AFCA National Rankings on the way to a 7-4 season while the Rams finished 9-2 and advanced to the NCAA Playoffs. Emporia State is 19-3 against non-MIAA opponents under coach Higgins with a 12-1 record in regular season games.
 
The Hornets open the season on Thursday, August 28 at home against Minot State.  The MIAA Game of the Week on 38 The Spot is set to kick off at 7:05 p.m. from Jones Field at Welch Stadium.  Reserved season tickets are on sale now at esuhornets.com while general admission tickets are free for all Hornet Athletics during Emporia State's Year of Celebration
