June 3, 2025 – For the third consecutive year, Emporia State baseball had five players earn Academic All-District honors as selected by College Sports Communicators.

Cade Barton,
Ryan Sauter,
Graeme Rios and
Jovanni Toledo were named CSC Academic All-District for their work in the classroom.
Cade Barton posted a 3.82/4.0 GPA in Biology and also earned Honorable Mention All-MIAA honors at pitcher for the second consecutive season after going 5-3 with a 4.78 ERA in 64.0 innings pitched. Barton also struck out 41 batters and allowed just three walks, as he led the nation in strikeout-to-walk ratio and walks allowed per nine innings. In his career, Barton pitched in 50 games with 35 starts for the Hornets, tallying 159 strikeouts in 197.1 career innings.
TJ Racherbaumer recorded a 3.83 GPA in Sport Leadership and was named First Team All-MIAA at catcher after hitting .310 with a 1.005 OPS, ten doubles, nine home runs, 32 RBI, 31 walks and a .451 OBP this season. Racherbaumer has also marked his name in the Emporia State record books, finishing seventh in career games played (193), fourth in at-bats (666), fifth in hits (200), ninth in runs scored (144), seventh in doubles (40), seventh in home runs (28), and fourth in walks (122) in program history.
Racherbaumer was also selected as a CSC Academic All-America finalist and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members.
Graeme Rios has a 3.64 GPA in Business and pitched 15 games for the Hornets, making six starts while posting a 5-2 record with one save. Rios struck out 27 batters in 48.1 innings pitched and tallied three or more strikeouts in six outings this season.
Ryan Sauter has a 4.00 GPA in Mathematics and in addition to earning CSC Academic All-District honors, was also named the MIAA Baseball "A-Game" Scholar Athlete of the Year. Sauter made 17 relief appearances this season and with one save and 26 strikeouts in 25.2 innings pitched while allowing a .208 opponent batting average.
Jovanni Toledo has a 3.50 in Business and hit .276 with a .347 OBP in his second season with the Hornets. Toledo also tallied six doubles, eight home runs, 14 walks, 33 RBI and 20 runs scored this season, and has a .296 average in 57 games played over the last two seasons.
To be nominated, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average. They must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games/contests played OR must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games/contests. For baseball and softball pitchers, it is 17 appearances or 25 innings pitched.
The Division II CSC Academic All-America® program is partially supported financially by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the program.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced July 2.
