November 10, 2025-Emporia State linebacker
Landon Boss has been named the MIAA Football Defensive Player of the Week, presented by FieldTurf for the second time this season.
Boss had a team high 12 tackles, three for a loss, a sack and an interception return of 43 yards for a touchdown in Emporia State's 45-17 win at Washburn. The Hornets shutout the Ichabods in the second half and held them to just 107 yards of total offense after halftime. His sack in the first quarter forced a WU punt that was blocked and returned for a touchdown to give ESU a 7-0 lead. His pick six in the fourth quarter made it a three possession game at 38-17. He is leading the MIAA in sacks and tackles for loss and is tied for seventh in interceptions. His eight sacks this season rank seventh on the Emporia State single season list.
The junior from Osage City, Kan. and Butler CC transfer was also named MIAA and national defensive player of the week after a four sack performance against Missouri Southern on October 11.
The Hornets wrap up the season on Saturday, November 15 when they play host to Fort Hays State. Kick-off from Jones Field at Welch Stadium is set for 1:05 p.m. and will be televised in the Kansas City area on The Spot. Emporia State will recognize their senior class prior to the game.
