October 6, 2025 – Emporia State football earned MIAA recognition following their win at Missouri Western as
Divante Herrig-Brittian earned MIAA Special Teams Athlete of the Week.
Divante Herrig-Brittian played an important part in the first quarter flurry that the Hornets put together in Saturday's win over the Griffons, as the redshirt sophomore from Lansing, Kan. blocked the first Missouri Western punt and then recovered the ball in the endzone, which built a 14-0 lead just three and a half minutes into the game.
Herrig-Brittian's blocked punt and recovery in the endzone marked the first time since 2010 against Truman State that the Hornets returned a blocked punt for a touchdown.
