Logan Myers Named Co-Freshman of the Year as Four From Emporia State Baseball Earn MIAA Recognition

In addition to Myers, Williams, Barton and Brunner were named honorable mention

May 2, 2024 – Emporia State's Logan Myers was named the MIAA Co-Freshman of the Year to highlight four Hornets that received All-MIAA recognition. Kadyn Williams, Cade Barton and Graham Brunner were named honorable mention.
 
Logan Myers is the second Hornet in the last three years to earn MIAA Freshman of the Year honors as TJ Racherbaumer won the award in 2022. The Pittsburg, Kan. native recorded a .301 batting average and .903 OPS in his first season with Emporia State. Myers tallied five doubles, two triples, seven home runs, 31 RBI and 42 runs scored while also posting .431 OBP. Myers also recorded 13 multi-hit games on the season, including five with three or more hits. In addition to his numbers at the plate, Myers also recorded a .988 fielding percentage with just two errors while turning 21 double plays.
 
Kadyn Williams earned Honorable Mention All-MIAA at third base, after earning honorable mention recognition at second base last season. Williams led the Hornets with a .328 batting average, 1.069 OPS and .463 OBP while also recording team-highs with 11 doubles, 11 home runs, 53 RBI and 41 walks. The Emporia, Kan. native ranked fourth in walks, 11th in RBI and 13th in home runs in the MIAA this season. Williams also recorded 13 multi-hit games, while also driving in three or more runs in seven games, including a career-high eight RBI against Pittsburg State.
 
Cade Barton earned Honorable Mention All-MIAA on the mound for the Hornets as he posted a 3.18 ERA and .245 batting average against in his 10 starts this season. Despite an injury against Missouri Western in early April, Barton finished the year ninth in the MIAA with 62.1 innings pitched and finished 14th in strikeouts with 53. Among qualified pitchers in the conference, the Omaha, Neb. native's .245 BAA was the sixth lowest across the MIAA.
 
Graham Brunner was also named Honorable Mention All-MIAA on the mound, posting a 4.25 ERA and a 3-1 record across 12 starts. Brunner struck out 59 batters with just 16 walks in his 55.0 innings pitched as his strikeout total ranked ninth in the MIAA and his walk total was the fifth lowest in the conference. In five of his 12 outings, Brunner recorded seven or more strikeouts, including a career-high nine strikeouts against #2 Central Missouri.
