MIAA BEGINS IN MARYVILLE
Emporia State opens their MIAA schedule with a road trip to Maryville, Mo. for a three-game series against the Bearcats.

THE COACHES
Brad Hill is 7-5 in his first season as the Hornets head coach and has a career record of 893-487-3.
Darin Loe is 577-625 in his 25th season at Northwest Missouri. 

ABOUT THE HORNETS
Emporia State is in their first season under head coach Brad Hill and the Hornets are 7-5 through the first twelve games. On the mound, nine pitchers have made multiple appearances with Cade Barton and Ian Lanik each having three starts and a 1-1 record. Barton has a 2.50 ERA across 18.0 innings with 14 hits allowed while Lanik has a 3.86 ERA with 18 strikeouts in 16.1 innings. At the plate, six different Hornets have recorded five or more RBI with Patryk Hernandez, TJ Racherbaumer and Logan Myers all leading the way with nine of their own. Hernandez has a team-high .400 batting average and .460 on-base percentage. Myers has three home runs on the season while Hernandez and Racherbaumer are joined by Austin Hamm with two each. As a team the Hornets are batting .261 with 37 extra-base hits and 74 runs scored.

Northwest Missouri is 6-5 on the season following just a 13-win season in 2023. As a team, the Bearcats are batting .305 and are outscoring opponents 103-72 through their first 11 games. Ryan Williams is pacing the offense with a .463 average while Trey Morris and Cole Slibowski have 18 and 16 RBI respectively. On the mound, Casey Stalzer is 2-0 across three starts and has 24 strikeouts in 14.2 innings pitched. Brock Steggall leads the bullpen with a 1.50 ERA in 12.0 relief innings and is allowing a .205 batting average against.

Emporia State leads the all-time series 71-43 and has won the last four three-game sets between the two teams.

LAST MEETING VS. NWMSU
The Hornets and Bearcats met last season in Maryville and after a split in a Sunday doubleheader, Emporia State took the series finale 13-11 in a game that included three RBI from TJ Racherbaumer and two from Andrew Rantz.

UP NEXT
The Hornets return home as they host the Turnpike Tussle against Washburn from Glennen Field. The series is scheduled for March 1-3.
