December 18, 2024-The awards continue to come in for Emporia State receiver Tyler Kahmann. The grad student from Haysville, Kan. was named an Associated Press (AP) First-Team All-American on Wednesday.

This is Kahmann's second All-American honor of the season and second straight year he has been named an AP All-American.

He is a two-time first-team D2CCCA All-Region selection, two time first-team All-MIAA selection and was a unanimous pick for all-conference this year. He leads the nation in receiving yards per game, receptions per game and touchdown catches.  His 1,488 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns set Emporia State single season records while his 100 catches are second all-time at Emporia State to his 101 receptions last season in 12 games.

He is the MIAA record holder with 54 career touchdown grabs and set the MIAA single game record with 296 receiving yards against Neb.-Kearney.  He holds virtually every Emporia State single game, single season and career receiving record.  In his career he has 3,686 receiving yards on 282 receptions and 54 touchdowns. His five touchdown receptions against Neb.-Kearney are also a school record.

The All-America team is selected for the AP by a panel of sports information directors representing the four Division II super regions.

Kahmann is one of six MIAA players named to the AP Division II All-American team.

Kahmann earns the 21st AP All-American honor for Emporia State and this is the fifth time a player has been named All-America by the AP under Coach Garin Higgins. Prior to 2017 season it was known as the AP Little All-America team and comprised of players from NCAA Division II, Division III and the NAIA.

The Hornets finished the season 7-4, their third straight season with at least seven wins. They are one of only two MIAA teams to win at least seven games in each of the last three seasons.
