November 5, 2024 – Crossover season is officially here as there are multiple events, both home and away, that are set for this week for Hornet fans to enjoy.
The week gets started on Wednesday, November 6 as Hornet Soccer hosts Washburn in the Turnpike Tussle to close out the regular season.
Basketball season will officially begin on Friday, November 8 as the Emporia State men take on Wayne State (Neb.) in St. Joseph, Mo. in the Hillyard Tipoff Classic. Tip off between the Hornets and Wildcats is set for 10:00 a.m. from the MWSU Fieldhouse.
Later in the day across town, the women's season will start with a matchup against Minnesota State-Mankato, the defending national champions, with tip off between the Lady Hornets and Mavericks set for 5:15 p.m. at Civic Arena. Friday's action will wrap up with Hornet Volleyball from White Auditorium. The Hornets will host Fort Hays State with first serve set for 6:00 p.m.
Saturday has a full slate of events, beginning with cross country headed to Joplin, Mo. for the NCAA Central Regional Championships. At home, Emporia State Disc Golf will host the Mid-American Regional Championships with the event taking place at both Jones Park and Peter Pan Park.
Salute to Service and Senior Day will be taking place at Welch Stadium as Emporia State football hosts Central Missouri. Kickoff between the Hornets and Mules is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. In honor of Salute to Service, Emporia State is offering free tickets to veterans with a valid military ID. Senior recognition will be taking place prior to kickoff, and during the game, the Emporia State University service citation award winners will be recognized on the field.
At 5:15 p.m., the Lady Hornets will tip off against Sioux Falls in at Civic Arena in St. Joseph for the second game of the Hillyard Tipoff Classic. In Emporia, Hornet Volleyball will be back in action for their final home match of the regular season against Nebraska-Kearney. First serve between the Hornets and Lopers is scheduled for 6:30 at White Auditorium.
The busy week wraps up on Sunday, November 10 with day two of the Mid-American Regional Championships hosted by Emporia State Disc Golf at Jones Park and Peter Pan Park. Men's basketball will tip off their second game of the weekend in St. Joseph at 12:00 p.m. against Northern State at MWSU Fieldhouse.
