November 19, 2024-The Emporia State soccer team had four Hornets named Academic All-District as selected by College Sports Communicators. Abby Bachmn, Mackenzi Goen, Hadlie Lowe and Ella Ruliffson were all named CSC Academic All-District for their work in the classroom.
Bachman has a 3.86 GPA in Health and Human Performance in her junior year and was named Third Team All-MIAA, her third consecutive season with All-MIAA recognition as she was named Honorable Mention each of her first two seasons with the Hornets. On the season, Bachman tallied career-highs in goals, points, shots and shots on goal while matching her total from last season with four assists to lead the team. Two of her assists were on goals that proved to be the game-winning goal.
Lowe has a 3.76 GPA in Health and Human Performance and was named Third Team All-MIAA this season. She tallied five goals and one assist, which all came in MIAA action. Against Missouri Western and Northwest Missouri in the final weekend of the regular season, Lowe scored in the final minute on a corner kick from Bachman to secure a 1-1 draw against the #15 Griffons, before scoring a game-winning free kick in the 71st minute against the Bearcats. She recorded double-digit points for the second consecutive season and had 26 shots with 14 attempts on goal.
Goen has a 3.68 GPA in Psychology
Ruliffson has a 3.93 GPA in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology
To be nominated, student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games/contests/sets played OR must start in at least 66 percent of the games with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced December 20 (women).
The Division II CSC Academic All-America® program is partially supported financially by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the program.
