Brailee Bogle and
Weronika Wrzesinska were named MIAA Athletes of the Week following their performances in Emporia State Volleyball's sweeps over Pittsburg State and Newman.
Brailee Bogle recorded 79 assists in the six sets played over the weekend, with 40 assists against the Gorillas and another 39 in the match against Newman. Her 40 assists in the match against Pittsburg State marked the third time this season that Bogle has tallied 40 or more assists in the three-set match. She averaged 13.17 assists per set across the two matches, raising her season average to 11.35 per set, the second-best mark in the MIAA.
Weronika Wrzesinska totaled 44 kills across the two Hornet wins, including a career-high 29 kills on .463 hitting in the sweep over Pittsburg State. Wrzesinska's 29 kills marks the most in the nation in a three-set match this season. To cap off the weekend, she tallied 15 kills on .333 hitting against the Jets. Through the two matches, she hit .414 and averaged 7.33 kills per set.
Emporia State is 11-3 this season and 3-1 in the MIAA and will travel to Topeka on Tuesday for a Turnpike Tussle matchup with Washburn.
