Alijah Comithier Named to Bevo Francis Top 100 Watch List

Hornet senior is on watch list for best small college basketball player

January 15, 2024-Emporia State's Alijah Comithier has been named to the Bevo Francis Topp100 Watch List by Small College Basketball and the National Awards. The 2024 Bevo Francis Top 100 Watch List consists of some of the top players from NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA Division I, NAIA Division II, USCAA and NCCAA.
 
Comithier is averaging 17.2 points per game overall to rank fifth in the MIAA. He is second in the association in assist to turnover ratio, is 11th in rebounding at 5.6 boards per game, 13th in free throw percentage, 14th in field goal percentage and 15th in blocked shots per game.  He is the leading active scorer in the MIAA and ranks fifth nationally with 1,870 career points in NCAA Division II play. He recorded a triple double with 22 points, ten rebounds, and ten assists in the Hornets 100-73 win over Newman. He has scored at least 20 points in six games with a season high 28 in an 89-77 win against Northeastern State.
 
The Clarence "Bevo" Francis Award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within Small College Basketball. Considerations will be season statistics and individual achievements, awards, personal character and team achievements. This is an incredibly prestigious award, as this award will only be given to one player within Small College Basketball per season.
 
2024 marks the eighth year of the Bevo Francis Award, after the award was not presented in 2021. Past winners include Dominez Burnett of Davenport University in 2016, Justin Pitts of Northwest Missouri State University in 2017, Emanuel Terry of Lincoln Memorial University in 2018, Aston Francis of Wheaton College in 2019, Kyle Mangas of Indiana Wesleyan University in 2020, Trevor Hudgins of Northwest Missouri in 2022, and last year's winner RJ Sunahar of Nova Southeastern.
 
On February 15, the list will be reduced to the Top 50 players. One month later on March 15, the Top 25 players will be announced. On April 1, the finalists of this year's award will be announced, followed by the Bevo Francis Award winner being crowned on April 6.
