Emporia State Football Training Camp Preview: Defensive Line

August 14, 2023-Last year the Hornet defensive line combined for 14.5 sacks and 27.0 tackles for loss last season and return all three starters. As a team Emporia State ranked third in the MIAA in sacks.
 
Junior Jordan Williams was a First-Team All-MIAA selection at defensive tackle last season. He finished fifth in the MIAA with 7.5 sacks and was sixth with 13.5 tackles for loss. He was had a career ten tackles at Central Oklahoma.
 
Junior Rafe Goucher is a two-time honorable mention All-MIAA selection. He had a career high ten tackles against Northwest Missouri.
 
Red-shirt junior Rylan Miller bounced back from an injury plagued freshman season to earn honorable mention All-MIAA honors last year.
 
Senior Maquay Shaw had 16 tackles and a forced fumble from his nose tackle position last year.
 
Red-shirt juniors Daniel Becker and Charlie Suenram have shown steady progress for the Hornets over their four years with the program as has red-shirt sophomore CJ Adams in his three years with the Hornets.
 
 
DEFENSIVE LINE NOTES:
There are three seniors, four juniors, one sophomore, five redshirt freshmen and two true freshmen on the defensive line.
All 15 defensive linemen came to ESU as freshmen
Seven of the 15 defensive linemen are from Kansas, six are from Oklahoma, and one each are from Texas and Missouri.
