March 15, 2023-Tthis year will mark the 18th consecutive year (not counting 2020 when the COVID pandemic eliminated the chance to do games) Emporia State University fans will be able to listen to selected games of the Hornets baseball and softball teams on the radio and internet. Voice of the Hornets Greg Rahe will call the games on KFFX, Mix 104.9FM as well as on-line at
www.kvoe.com, the station's mobile apps and on
The MIAA Network. The broadcasts will begin with a pregame show approximately ten minutes before first pitch.
A total of 12 regular season games are scheduled to be aired with more scheduled should the teams make it to the postseason. Post-season games could also be aired depending on the games schedules.
The schedule is set to begin on Saturday, March 25 with the Hornet softball double header against Lincoln. First pitch from Turnbull Field in the Trusler Sports Complex is set for 12:00 p.m. with the pregame show starting at approximately 11:50 a.m.
The Hornet baseball team will take the airwaves for the first time on Tuesday, March 28 against Pittsburg State on Glennen Field at the Trusler Sports Complex. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. with the pregame show starting at approximately 5:50 p.m.
There will be a total of six baseball games and six softball games aired. Starting next week there will be an Emporia State game on the radio every weekend that the Hornets play at home the rest of the season. All of the Hornets regular season home games will also be shown on The MIAA Network.
Emporia State was the only MIAA school to broadcast both softball and baseball regular season games on commercial radio in each of the 15 seasons prior to 2020's COVID stoppage and they have continued the practice the last three years.
