HOME AND AWAY
The Emporia State men's and women's tennis teams will both take on Tabor College this weekend. The Hornet women will travel to Hillsboro, Kan. on Friday while the Bluejay men will make the trip to Emporia to take on the Hornets on Saturday.

LAST SETS
The Emporia State men's and women's tennis teams both fell on Sunday at Drury. The men dropped a 6-1 decision while the women were shutout 7-0.
Drury two of three matches in doubles play with
Harrison Brown and Dominik Simunovik taking a 7-6 (7-4) win at #3 for the Hornets.
Sergio Vera had the lone win in singles play for Emporia State as took a 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (13-11) win at the #4 position.
The Panther women won all three doubles matches and all of the singles matches. Andrea Sanchez did go to a third set before falling 6-1, 3-6, 1-0.
Emporia State will be back in action against Tabor at the end of the week. The women will play in Hillsboro on Friday at 11:00 a.m. while the men will play host to the Bluejays on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Kossover Family Tennis Complex.
THE COACH
Former Hornet CeCe Peyroche is currently guiding the Hornets following the retirement of coach Les Stafford in December. She is 1-2 in both men's and women's action. Peyroche was 23-15 in singles play during her three years as a Hornet before moving into the graduate assistant position last year. Â
A LOOK AT THE HORNETS
The 2023 MIAA Women's and MIAA/GAC Men's Tennis Preseason Polls have been announced and the Hornet men are picked to finish fourth in the North Division while the Hornet are picked eighth overall.
The Hornet men are 1-2 on the season.
Sergio Vera is 2-1 on the season in singles play with a win at #3 and 1-1 record at #4 singles. The doubles team of
Harrison Brown and
Dominik Simunovic is 2-1 on the season with a 1-1 record at #2 and a win at #3.
The Hornet women are 1-2 this year.
Paige Stranghoner is 2-1 with a 2-0 record at #5 singles and a loss at #3.Â
Alexia Desmet and Angelina Gnexdilova are 2-1 at the #1 doubles position.
KNOW THE FOE
The Tabor women are 0-2 overall. They lost to Baker back in the fall and opened the spring season with a loss at Hastings. Their last three matches have all been cancelled.
The Bluejay men are 2-0 against four year institutions. They defeated Baker last fall and took a 7-0 victory over Hastings to open the spring season on January 28. They have not played since that match.

Emporia State will take a break from competition until March 2 when both the men and women play host to MSU-Denver. First serve at the Kossover Family Tennis Complex is set for 11:00 a.m.Â
