October 25, 2023-The first regional rankings of the soccer season are out and Emporia State is one of the ten teams under consideration for the NCAA Central Regional Tournament. The first set of rankings were only in alphabetical order.

The Hornets, who started the season 0-3-3 and did not play a match on the Emporia State campus until October 13, are 7-5-4 on the year. They have won three straight and are 6-1-1 over their last eight matches. Mackenzie Dimarco, the MIAA all-time leader in goals scored, has scored 11 goals in that stretch after collecting just three goals in the first eight matches.

Emporia State will wrap up the regular season this weekend on the road at Neb.-Kearney on Friday afternoon and at Washburn on Sunday afternoon. A win in either match will clinch a first round home match in the MIAA Tournament.  The first round of conference play is set for Friday, November 3 at the four highest seeded teams. The MIAA semifinals and finals will be played in Wichita at the Stryker Sports Complex on Thursday, November 9 and Saturday, November 11.
