MIDWEEK REMATCH
Emporia State travels south to Enid, Okla for a midweek rematch from opening weekend against Southwestern Oklahoma.

LAST AT BAT
The Hornets traveled to Fort Hays State for their first MIAA road series of the season. After falling in the first game, the Hornet offense came alive in the final two games with a 13-2 win game two and an 8-7 win in 11 innings in the rubber match. Clutch solo home runs in the ninth by Blake Carroll and TJ Racherbaumer tied the game before Javier Pena drove in the winning run in the 11th inning.

THE COACHES
Seth Wheeler is 64-65 in his fourth season as the Hornets head coach. He is 2-1 against Southwestern Oklahoma.
Zack Saunders is 220-194  in his tenth season as the head coach at Southwestern Oklahoma. He is 1-2 against Emporia State.

ABOUT THE HORNETS
The Hornets are 7-11 on the season. The Hornet offense is led by seniors Sam Chaput and Blake Carroll. Chaput is batting .354 with a .447 on-base percentage. Carroll is close behind with a .323 batting average and an on-base percentage of .397. The recent push from TJ Racherbaumer has helped the lineup as he is batting .359 with a team-high seven doubles.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Southwestern Oklahoma is 7-11 on the season. The Bulldog offense is led by a trio of hitters in Zach Baxley, Taylan Mullins-Ohm and Alex Rice who all post batting averages of .300 or better on the season. Mullins-Ohm has posted the power numbers with five doubles, a triple and three home runs with 11 RBI and a .604 slugging percentage. On the mound,  Nate Postlethwait leads the staff with 23.2 innings and has recorded a team-high 20 strikeouts.

SERIES HISTORY
Emporia State leads the all-time series 21-17 and have won six of the last eight meetings.

LAST TIME AGAINST SWOSU
During opening weekend, Emporia State took on Southwestern Oklahoma from Edmond in the First Pitch Invitational. The Hornets recorded a three-run fifth inning and were able to hold off the Bulldogs late push with a game-clinching double play to give Carl Aikman his first save on the season.

UP NEXT
Emporia State will return to MIAA play this weekend when they travel to Warrensburg, Missouri for an MIAA series against Central Missouri tentatively scheduled for March 11-13 in Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field.
