HORNETS LATE PUSH NOT ENOUGH AGAINST LIONS

Emporia State falls 6-2 to Missouri Southern

March 25, 2022 – Emporia State fell 6-2 against Missouri Southern on Friday evening from Glennen Field.

The Hornets fell behind early as the Lions converted with two outs with a two RBI double to right field. The deficit grew from 2-0 to 5-0 after a trio of RBI doubles from Missouri Southern.

Kadyn Williams got Emporia State on the board with an RBI single to score Kase Johnson in the sixth inning. Blake Carroll trimmed the Lion lead down to 5-2 with an RBI double into right field in the seventh inning.

Missouri Southern was able to score their final run in the eighth inning after a wild pitch with two outs allowed the runner on third to cross the plate.

The Hornet pitching staff bounced back with 6.2 innings of relief from Braden Meek, Peyton Carson and Chandler Ashby. Carson recorded 4.1 innings and 6 strikeouts while the trio of relievers allowed just one run.

Noah Geekie powered the Hornet offense going 3-5 with a run scored and a stolen base.

Emporia State will continue their series against Missouri Southern on Saturday afternoon from Glennen Field. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
