March 1, 2022 – Emporia State traveled to Washburn for a single midweek game. The Hornets fell 12-2 against the Ichabods.
After the Hornets went down in order, Washburn got on the board first to take a 1-0 lead through one inning. Emporia State immediately responded in the top of the second inning as Patryck Hernandez laced an RBI single to center field to score
TJ Racherbaumer and tie the score at 1-1.
Washburn scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 3-1 advantage over Emporia State.
Kadyn Williams cut the deficit in half in the third with his own RBI single to score
Sam Chaput and make the score 3-2.
The Hornets struggled on defense and with the Ichabod lineup and ultimately fell 12-2 in seven innings.
Patryck Hernandez went 2-2 with a double and a walk.
Emporia State will travel to Hays, Kan. to take on Fort Hays State in a three-game weekend series March 4-6. First pitch on Friday, March 4 is scheduled for 3:00 P.M.
