50 Emporia State Football Players Earn MIAA Academic Honors

Seven Hornets earn special recognition

December 2, 2022 – Seven Hornets lead the way with Rafe Goucher, Jaedon Pool, Xavier Cason, Ross Brungardt, Tyler Kahmann and Tommy Zimmerman earning MIAA Scholar-Athlete honors. The six are among 31 to earn the Scholar-Athlete designation for maintaining at least a 3.50 GPA at the certifying member institution and earning All-MIAA honors on the field. The honoree also must have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. Emporia State led the MIAA with six players to earn the honor.

In addition to the six scholar athletes, Peyton Henry earned the MIAA Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 4.00 GPA in computer science. Henry is one of fourteen players to earn the honor across the MIAA. An MIAA Academic Excellence Award recipient must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of at least 4.00 at the certifying member institution. The honoree also must have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
