RECORD-BREAKING START
Off to the best start in school history, #6 Emporia State heads to Fort Hays State to take on the Tigers before returning home to face Washburn in the Turnpike Tussle. Both matches are non-conference tilts.
LAST TIME OUT
Emporia State won both games on their Colorado trip by scoring nine goals between the two games.
Hannah Woolery led the way with a pair of goals while
Mackenzie Dimarco,
Kyleigh Roe and
Liz Palmer each added a goal in a 5-1 win at CSU-Pueblo.
Joanie Westcoat and
Angie Palmer added an assist each for the Hornets. They followed this with a 4-0 win over Colorado Christian.
Mackenzie Dimarco scored a pair of goals,
Anna Burnett scored once and
Haley Sparks scored her first collegiate goal.
Hannah Woolery added a pair of assists in the first half while Angle Palmer assisted the second Dimarco goal.
THE COACHES
Bryan Sailer is 79-72-24 in his tenth year at Emporia State and is the winningest coach in program history. He has a career record of 138-95-26 that includes coaching four years at the community college level. He has led the Hornets to six straight .500 or better regular seasons, four straight MIAA Tournaments and their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance. He is 4-8-4 against Fort Hays State and is 11-3-3 against Washburn.
Blake Reynolds is 31-19-8 in his fourth season at Fort Hays State. He is 2-3-1 against Emporia State.
Davy Phillips is in his fifth season at Washburn. He is 1-5-0 against Emporia State.

Emporia State was on the attacking foot most of the game, out shooting the Tigers 11-5 and 9-3 on goal in a 2-1 Hornet win in 2019. The Hornets scored in the 11th minute off a
Gaby Crowell cross that was converted by
Mackenzie Dimarco and again in the 73rd minute off of a
Joanie Westcoat corner kick to take a 2-0 lead. The Tigers would score late but it would not be enough.
ABOUT WASHBURN
The Ichabods have started the season 3-0-0 and have won each match by one goal.
SERIES HISTORY
Washburn leads the all-time series 15-14-4 with Emporia State winning six of the last seven.
LAST TIME VS. ICHABODS
The Hornets and Ichabods went back and forth with no offensive output until
Mackenzie Dimarco scored with just under five minutes remaining that proved to be the difference as Emporia State took the Turnpike Tussle 1-0 in 2019.
