ABOUT TIME
Emporia State will begin their 2021 season with two neutral site matchups between Rockhurst and Concordia-St. Paul. The Hornets look to build on the success of the 2019 season and their 9-0-1 record from the shortened 2021 spring season.

THE COACHES
Bryan Sailer is 75-72-24 in his tenth year at Emporia State and is the winningest coach in program history. He has a career record of 134-95-26 that includes coaching four years at the community college level. He has led the Hornets to six straight .500 or better regular seasons, four straight MIAA Tournaments and their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance. He is 0-1-0 against Rockhurst and is coaching against Concordia-St. Paul for the first time.
Greg Herdick is 233-137-40 in his 23rd season at Rockhurst. He is 6-1-1 against Emporia State.
Steve Bellis is 80-79-15 in his 11th season at Concordia St. Paul. He is coaching against Emporia State for the first time.

SCOUTING THE HORNETS
Emporia State is set to return all of their players from the team that went 9-1-0 during the 2021 spring season, led by 2019 MIAA Offensive Player of the Year Mackenzie Dimarco. She was joined on the spring 2021 All-MIAA team by Ashlyn Lakin while Hannah Woolery and Aislinn Hughes were named spring 2021 All-Tournament performers. The Hornets were 13-4-3 in their last countable season of competition in 2019. In addition to Dimarco, Woolery and Hughes earning All-MIAA honors that season, Sydney Martens was named third-team All-MIAA and Kailey Corr earned honorable mention honors in 2019.

SCOUTING ROCKHURST
This is the first game of the year for the Hawks. In the last full season in 2019, the Hawks went 14-5-1 including a trip to the postseason.

SERIES HISTORY
Rockhurst leads the all-time series 6-1-1 and have won five straight since a scoreless tie in 2003.

LAST TIME VS. THE HAWKS
The Hornets scored in the first ten minutes before RU scored twice in a minute later in the first half to take a 2-1 lead. Three more goals were scored in the second half sending the game into overtime tied 3-3. RU would then score in double overtime to take the 4-3 victory over the Hornets.

SCOUTING CONCORDIA-ST PAUL
The Bears are heading into their first games of the season and in 2019 had a 17-3-3 record that included a trip to the NSIC Tournament Championship and a Central Region Tournament berth.

SERIES HISTORY
This is the first ever matchup between the Hornets and the Golden Bears.

This will be the first meeting for the Hornets against the Golden Bears

UP NEXT
The Hornets will go back on the road and travel to Colorado next weekend for a pair of non-conference matches against CSU-Pueblo and Colorado Christian.
