TUESDAY TURNAROUND
Emporia State will play host to Fort Hays State in a rematch of their five set thriller fromten days ago. Between sets the Hornets will recognize the winners of the Division II ADA Academic Achievement Awards.
LAST ROTATION
Emporia State came back from 2-1 down in sets and trailing 13-11 in the fifth to have match point but could not complete the comeback in a 3-2 loss to Missouri Western on Thursday as the Hornets fell 25-17, 24-26, 25-20, 19-25, 16-14 to the Griffons in White Auditorium.
Yuchen Du led Emporia State with 16 kills on .316 hitting with seven digs, five assists and four block assists.Â
Jessica Hayes had a double-double with 13 kills and ten digs while
Orianna Clements had 13 kills on .379 hitting.Â
Rylie Fornelli had a career high 34 digs in her first full match at libero.Â
Emma Dixon led Emporia State with 24 assists.Â
Shelby Ebert had 18 digs while
Valerie Golder added six block assists.
THE COACHES
Bing Xu is in his 15th year as head coach for Emporia State. He holds a record of 285-177 and has led the Hornets to five NCAA Tournament appearances. He is 24-6 against Fort Hays State.
Jessica Wood-Atkins is 13-29 in her second season as head coach at Fort Hays State and is 91-98 in her seventh season as a head coach. She is 1-2 against Emporia State.
