MIAA TIME
Emporia State makes their 2019 MIAA and home debut against sixth ranked Neb.-Kearney on Friday before heading to western Kansas on Saturday for a matchup with Fort Hays State.
THE COACHES
Bing Xu is in his 15th year as head coach for Emporia State. He holds a record of 285-173 and has led the Hornets to five NCAA Tournament appearances.
Rick Squiers is 646-88 in his 21st season as head coach at Nebraska Kearney and has a career record of 852-147 in his 27th year as a four year collegiate coach.
Jessica Wood-Atkins is 11-27 in her second season as head coach at Fort Hays State and is 89-96 in her seventh season as a head coach.
SCOUTING THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 4-4 on the year after going 1-3 at the Mountain Lion Invitational in Colorado Springs, Colo. last weekend. As a team the Hornets are tied for third in the MIAA in total blocks on the season despite having no one ranked in the top ten in the category.
Aliyah Bernard is third in the league in hitting percentage, 15th in blocks per set and 20th in kills per set.
Mikayla Simons is 14th in the MIAA in hitting percentage and 16th in blocks per set.Â
Emma Dixon is sixth in the association in assists,
Shelby Innes is eighth in digs per set, and
Yuchen Du is 14th in kills per set.

MIAA OVERALL
The MIAA is 60-32 as an association as we head into conference play this weekend. The league was 33-11 on the opening weekend of play. Four teams are nationally ranked in this week's AVCA National Poll with all of them in the top 15, while another team is receiving votes.
SCOUTING NEB.-KEARNEY
The Lopers are 9-0 on the season and ranked #6 in this week's AVCA National Poll. They lead the league in digs and assists. Maddie Squiers is fourth in the MIAA in assists, tenth in hitting percentage, and 15th in digs. Emma Benton is third in the league in service aces while Lindsay Nottlemann is third in digs per set. They have four players ranked in the top 20 of kills per set in the league. This will be their first road contest of the season.
SERIES HISTORY
The Lopers lead the all-time series 40-10 and have won 21 straight dating back to 1990.

The Tigers are 3-5 on the year. As a team they are third in the league in assists. Delaney Humm is fifth in the MIAA in kills per set while Tatum Bartels is sixth in hitting percentage in the association.

Emporia State defeated Fort Hays State in straight sets in Hays, Kan. The Hornets were led by
Taylor Otting who recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 14 digs.

Emma Dixon recorded 44 assists and 10 digs.
