August 2, 2019-Fresh off their first NCAA Tournament appearance in school history, the Emporia State women's soccer team will play host to seven home matches this fall. The Hornets were undefeated on the ESU Pitch last season and have won ten straight matches on their home turf.
The Hornets will open with three road exhibition friendlies in August before opening the season at the MIAA/GLVC Challenge in St. Joseph, Mo. Emporia State will take on Rockhurst on September 6 followed by a match against former MIAA foe Lindenwood on September 8. The next weekend will be spent in Texas with matches at Midwestern State on September 13 and at Texas A&M-Commerce on September 15.
The first home action will be a non-conference match against Ft. Hays State on September 20 on the ESU Pitch. The first Turnpike Tussle of the 2019 season will take place in Topeka on September 20 when Emporia State takes on Washburn in non-conference play. The last non-conference match of the season wil be at Neb.-Kearney on September 27. Â
MIAA play will begin on September 29 against Ft. Hays State in Hays, Kan. Six of the final ten matches of the season will be played on the ESU Pitch starting with Missouri Western on October 4. Emporia State will play host to Northwest Missouri on October 6 before making their first road trip to Claremore, Okla. on October 11 to take on Rogers State. They will stay in the Sooner State on October 13 to take on Northeastern State in Tahlequah in a rematch of their MIAA Tournament quarterfinal win.
Emporia State's Homecoming weekend will begin with the Hornets playing host to Central Oklahoma on October 18 with a match against Newman on October 20 wrapping up the weekend festivities.
The final regular season road trip will have Emporia State going to Joplin, Mo. to take on Missouri Southern on October 25 and then heading to Warrensburg, Mo. for a match with Central Missouri on October 27.
Emporia State will start off November with the home edition of the Turnpike Tussle on November 1 against Washburn on the ESU Pitch. The regular season will end with a Senior Day match-up against Neb.-Kearney on November 3.
The MIAA tournament is scheduled for November 8 through 17 on campus sites.
The Hornets finished the 2018 season with the best record in program history at 14-6-1. They hosted their first ever post-season match and advanced to the MIAA Tournament semi-finals with a 2-1 win over Northeastern State. Emporia State capped their great season with the Hornets first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in program history.
