November 16, 2019-The Emporia State volleyball team saw their season come to an end with a 27-25, 25-20, 25-17 loss at #19 Northwest Missouri on Saturday night in Maryville, Mo.

There were eight ties and four lead changes in the first set. The Bearcats used a 7-4 run to force set point only to see the Hornets get back to back kills from both
Valerie Golder and
Shelby Ebert to get their own set point at 25-24. A service error evened the set at 25 and NWMSU got kills from Hallie Sidney and Bethany Elkins to win 27-25.

Emporia State jumped out to a 5-1 lead to start the second set and led 12-9 before Northwest went on a 9-2 run to take an 18-14 lead. The Hornets were able to fight off one set point before falling 25-20. The Bearcats scored the first six points of the third set and never trailed on the way to a 25-17 win and match sweep in the third set.

Madelyn Michaelis led the Hornets with eight kills and six block assists.
Emma Dixon had 18 assists and
Rylie Fornelli had 13 digs to lead Emporia State.

The Hornets will only lose two seniors and are set to return 11 of 13 players next year.
