October 12, 2019-Emporia State volleyball was swept for just the fourth time this year in a 25-19, 25-11, 25-18 loss at Missouri Southern on Saturday afternoon in Joplin, Mo.

Neither team had more than a three point lead in the first set until Southern scored the final four points of the set for a 25-19 win. The Lions jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the second set and never trailed in a 25-11 victory for a 2-0 lead. Missouri Southern led 7-0 to start the third set and would lead 20-10 before settling for the 25-18 win.

Yuchen Du was the only Hornet with more than three kills as she finished with 11 kills on .280 hitting.
Emma Dixon had 16 assists for 25 Hornet kills.Â
Rylie Fornelli had a team high 15 digs.

Emporia State will return to action on Friday, October 18 to take on Northwest Missouri. First serve for the Hornets annual Pink Game is set for 7:00 p.m.
