September 29, 2018- Emporia State Volleyball fell 3-0 in straight sets to #18 Central Oklahoma on Saturday. This is the fourth top 25 team the Hornets have faced in the last 15 days and seven opponents.
The Hornets stayed close early in set one to a tie score at 7-7 before the Bronchos went on a 3-0 run to take the lead 10-7. The Hornets could not stop the Bronchos attack as the #18 ranked team did not allow the Hornets within two points the remainder of the set as they went to win 25-20. The Bronchos took control of set two early with a 6-1 opening run and would stay on the steady attack through the remainder of the set. The Bronchos used multiple short runs in the set to take the 25-11 set win and 2-0 match lead. With a 2-0 lead over the Hornets, the #18 Bronchos carried their momentum into the third set and took an early 13-6 lead. The Hornets late run proved not enough as the #18 Bronchos took the 25-18 set win and the 3-0 match win.
The Hornets were led by Tatum Graves with six kills while Valerie Golder and Julia Joseph each added five. Emma Dixon had a team high 13 assists and Allie Maloney led all players with 22 digs.Â
The Hornets will be back in action on Tuesday, October 2 as they play host to Newman in White Auditorium.Â
