EMPORIA STATE FOOTBALL SPECIAL TEAMS PREVIEW

Hornets need to replace trio of four year players at kicker, punter and long snapper

August 12, 2018-Special teams will have several new faces this year. For the first time in four years Emporia State will have a new punter, kicker and deep snapper.

Red-shirt freshman Sam Dobbins was an all-state kicker as a junior at Emporia HS. True freshman Clark Schoonover was a first-team all-state kicker at Andover Central HS last season.

Punting duties may be handled by either of the kickers or possibly receiver Tyler Harris or running back Landon Nault.  Quarterback Braxton Marstall punted three times last season.

Junior Austin Passmore is a transfer long snapper from Northeastern Okla. A&M. Freshman Derek Hahn is in his first year with the Hornets from Lincoln (Neb.) North Star HS.

Kai Callins was fifth in the MIAA in punt return yards last year at 9.8 yards per return and he had one kick return for 44 yards on the season.
