MIDWEEK TUSSLE
Emporia State plays host to Washburn in the third meeting of the 2018 Turnpike Tussle.

LAST AT BAT
Emporia State fell 2-1 to Central Missouri in a three game series 1-4, 5-4, 5-6.
In game one the Mules took the early lead with two runs in each of the first two innings. After exchanging outs for five innings the Hornets scored their lone run in the top of the eighth.
In game two the Mules got on the board first in the second inning with two runs but the Hornets took the lead 3-2 with three runs in the top of the third. The Mules answered back with two runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead 4-3. In the top of the fifth the Hornets scored one run to tie the game at 4-4. After exchanging outs for five innings the Hornets took the lead 5-4 in the top of the 11th for the win.
In game three the Hornets got on board first with two runs in the top of the fifth before the Mules took the lead 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth. In the top of the seventh the Hornets took the lead 5-2 with three runs before the Mules ended scoring with two runs for the 6-5 win.

THE COACHES
Bob Fornelli is 588-262 in his 15th season at Emporia State and is 895-373 overall in his 22nd year as a four year head coach. He has led Emporia State to two Division II World Series appearances in ten NCAA Tournaments. Fornelli is 43-22 against the Ichabods.
Harley Douglas is 103-96 in his fourth year as head coach for the Ichabods.

ABOUT THE HORNETS
The Hornets have a team batting average of .292 while allowing opponents an average of .304. The Hornets have had 1450 at bats with 423 hits for 303 runs on the season. Hornet pitchers have combined for 330 K's this season.
At the Plate
Bryce Fischer leads the Hornets with a .417 batting average, 68 hits and 46 runs. Kaden Shaffer has a .331 avg with 54 hits and 34 runs. Mason Brown, Brian Grove, Trevor Turner, Brandon Bachar, Tate Kastens, Tanner Arst and Mack Gowing each have double digit hits and runs for the Hornets.
On the Mound
Seth Holman has 84 K's with an ERA of 4.33 through 79.0 innings with a record of 4-3. Taylor Thompson has 20 appearances, 38.1 innings, 26 K's and a 4.93 ERA. Max Simpson is 3-4 in 12 appearences, 46.2 innings with 43 K's.

SCOUTING THE ICHABODS
The Ichabods are 15-28 on the season, 9-23 in the MIAA. Steven Jacobson leads the Ichabods with a .322 batting avg. Javis Larson has 48 hits and 29 runs while Darian Abram has 34 runs on 38 hits. Josh Crosby leads the team with 13 home runs and 42 RBI. Josh Ramirez has an ERA of 3.89 through 71.2 innings with 56 K's in 12 starts.

LAST TIME AGAINST THE ICHABODS
Emporia State fell 8-7 to Washburn in Topeka.
