Emporia State heads North to take on Washburn in round two of the 2018 Turnpike Tussle.
LAST AT BAT
Emporia State fell 2-1 in the weekend series against Nebraska Kearney.
In game one, Emporia State fell 9-7 in eleven innings in the opener against Neb.-Kearney on Saturday. The Hornets scored seven runs on 12 hits and committed four errors in the game.
In game two, the Hornets tied the series with a 12-8 win over the Lopers. The Hornets out hit the Lopers 17-11 in the game while each team had three errors.
In game three, the Lopers got on the board first with three runs in the top of the first and the Hornets couldn't get rolling. The Hornets scored one run in three separate innings with just eight hits in the game to fall 11-3.
THE COACHES
Bob Fornelli is 584-257 in his 15th season at Emporia State and is 889-368 overall in his 22nd year as a four year head coach. He has led Emporia State to two Division II World Series appearances in ten NCAA Tournaments. Fornelli is 43-21 against the Ichabods.
Harley Douglas is 98-93 in his fourth year as head coach for the Ichabods.

The Hornets have a team batting average of .297 while allowing opponents an average of .300. The Hornets have had 1178 at bats with 350 hits for 246 runs on the season. Hornet pitchers have combined for 287 K's this season.

Bryce Fischer leads the Hornets with a .423 batting average, 58 hits and 37 runs. Kaden Shaffer has a .341 avg with 45 hits and 30 runs. Mason Brown, Brian Grove, Trevor Turner, Tate Kastens, Tanner Arst and Mack Gowing each have double digit hits and runs for the Hornets.

LAST TIME AGAINST THE ICHABODS
Emporia State fell 9-1 to Washburn. The Ichabods got on the board in the top of the second with a solo home run to take the lead. The Ichabods got two runs in the top of the third and four in the fourth. Washburn finished their scoring in the top of the sixth with two runs to lead 9-0. The Hornets lone run came in the bottom of the ninth when Kaden Shaffer scored on a wild pitch.
