February 14, 2018-Emporia State's Danielle Sprinkle was named the MIAA Softball Hitter of the Week after batting .571 in four games last week for the Hornets.
Sprinkle hit .571 with a 1.214 slugging percentage with seven RBI in four games as Emporia State went 3-1 at the Ark.-Monticello D2 Challenge last week.Â
She started the tournament with a two run homer in the first inning of Emporia States 9-5 loss to Ark Tech.  She went three for three with two doubles, three RBI and two runs scored in the Hornets 6-4 win over Harding. She was two for three with two doubles, two walks two runs and an RBI in Emporia States 17-10 non-conference win over Missouri Western. The Salina, Kan. native wrapped up the weekend going two for four with two doubles and RBI and a run scored in the Hornets 5-3 victory over Ark.-Monticello.
Sprinkle and the rest of the Hornets will be making their home debut this weekend as Emporia State has taken over partial hosting duties of the cancelled 9-State Classic. The now 6-State Classic will take place at the Trusler Sports Complex on Saturday and Sunday.
