April 9, 2016-The Emporia State tennis teams had four doubles matches decided by just two games in a pair of losses to Neb.-Kearney on Saturday at the EHS Courts.
MEN'S DUAL
Both the #1 and #2 doubles teams for the Hornets dropped 8-6 decisions as the Lopers took a 3-0 lead into singles play. Emporia State was able to pick up three wins in singles, all in come from behind fashion. Gerard Pont won 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-3) at #2 singles, Matheus Mota picked up a 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-5) win at #3 and Farhan Sadique won 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-5) at #6 singles.

WOMEN'S DUAL
The Emporia State women also dropped a pair of doubles matches decided by just two games. After Sarah Durham and Kristen Fraley won 8-4 at #3 doubles, Tawni Griffey and Kaley Clark fell 8-6 at #1 doubles while Amy Fugit and Lori Ahuja lost 9-7 at #2 to put the Hornets in a 2-1 deficit going into singles play. Emporia State would win three singles matches with Durham winning 6-1, 6-3 at #6 and Griffey picking up a 6-3, 6-4 win at #1 singles before Clark had to grind out a 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 1-0 (10-5) win at #2 singles.
